I don't necessarily want to become a millionaire; I want to be free.

There's something about this pursuit of money that resonates with me less and less.

As if life really began the day you reached a certain amount in your bank account.

Personally, I don't feel the need to become a millionaire at any cost. What appeals to me isn't necessarily the idea of amassing a fortune. Rather, it's what money can offer me that is most valuable: the freedom to choose. 🌴

🌿 Avoir suffisamment plutôt que toujours plus

I think there's a real difference between wanting to be rich and wanting to have enough.

But also so I don't have to say yes to everything.

Yes to a job that no longer suits us. Yes to schedules that wear us out. Yes to a lifestyle that doesn’t reflect who we are—simply because we can’t afford to do otherwise.

But I think we can also ask ourselves at what point the desire to have more ends up costing us too much.

Because if earning more means no longer having time for yourself, no longer seeing your loved ones, or constantly putting off what you want to do, what is the true cost of that success?

Imagine being able to book a flight without feeling like you're turning your whole life upside down.

Partir quelques semaines ailleurs. 🌍

Or just be able to slow down.

To me, these are also forms of wealth.

The freedom to organize your days differently. To not be entirely dependent on a specific place, a schedule, or a single way of making a living. To be able to make choices that better align with your desires, values, and energy.

Of course, this freedom doesn't happen overnight. It sometimes requires making choices, planning, compromises, and a certain amount of financial discipline.

Mais elle peut devenir un fil conducteur. 🌿

Instead of just asking myself how to earn more, I can also ask myself how to build a life in which I’ll have to sacrifice less of what matters to me.

There’s a saying that often comes to mind: we work to live, not the other way around.

And yet, it's sometimes so easy to get swept up in the moment.

We work to pay for our daily expenses. We work harder so we can afford a little more. Then our standard of living rises, and we have to keep working even harder to maintain it.

Without even realizing it, we may end up building a life that depends entirely on our ability to keep running.

The years go by. The seasons change. The people we love grow older. Our desires evolve. Opportunities to explore the world, try something new, or simply enjoy the present don’t always come around twice.

I'm not saying you should drop everything on a whim, quit your job tomorrow, or move to the other side of the world without thinking it through.

I'm simply saying that I think it's essential not to wait until we're exhausted to ask ourselves whether our way of life really suits us.

Maybe success isn't about being able to afford absolutely everything you want.

Maybe it's the ability to reject what no longer suits us.

Success is often portrayed to us as an accumulation: more money, more possessions, more responsibilities, more recognition.

But I like the idea of success that’s measured in a different way.

Through the time we have. Through the sense of peace we feel. Through the opportunity to choose where we live, our own pace, and the projects to which we want to devote our energy.

Because it gives us the chance to spend time with our loved ones without constantly checking the time.

By being able to change course when you realize you’re no longer happy on the path you’ve chosen.

And above all, because of that feeling of not constantly putting your life on hold.

I believe it’s possible to have big ambitions without making money an end in itself. You can strive to grow, create, take on new challenges, and improve your financial situation while refusing to let work take over your entire life.

Because, deep down, my ambition may not be to always have more. It’s to be able to live more fully.

💰 L’argent comme moyen, pas comme destination

I'm not trying to pit money against happiness. It would be naive to think that financial concerns don't matter at all.

Having a safety net can make a big difference. Being able to handle the unexpected, plan for the future, and have more options is invaluable.

But I'd like money to remain what it should be: a tool to help me live my life.

It's not a destination so far away that I'd spend my whole life chasing it without ever taking the time to look around me.

Above all, I'd like not to have to constantly choose between making a living and enjoying life.

I don't need to be a millionaire to imagine a life that suits me.

I need to find a balance between what I earn, what I spend, the time I devote to work, and the time I set aside for my personal life.

I need to be able to look toward the future without completely giving up on the present.

And I need to remind myself that freedom doesn't necessarily mean a big house, a luxury car, or a bank account full of zeros.

Here's to an afternoon you can treat yourself to without feeling guilty.

The ability to say no.

I don't necessarily always want more. I want enough to be able to choose. 🤍

Choosing where I live, how I work, what I spend my time on, and how much room I leave for the unexpected.

I want to be able to make a living without forgetting to live my life.

Maybe that's what freedom means to me: having enough so that I don't have to sacrifice everything. And having enough time to enjoy the best things life has to offer.

And what about you? If you had enough money to stop worrying constantly about your finances, what would you change in your life? 💭

Signed, a soul under the sun ☀️
